Underground Transmissions Podcast – Vision Statement
Broadcasting from the Fringes, Connecting the Dots
Underground Transmissions is a radical media project built for this moment. We live in a time of accelerating crisis—where authoritarianism is rising, public systems are crumbling, and digital realities are rewriting the way we interact with the world. But we also live in a time of possibility, where underground networks, radical imagination, and collective care offer pathways forward.
This podcast exists to amplify voices that challenge the status quo, to explore the intersections of radical mental health, counterculture, and resistance, and to create a space where people can connect across divides.
What We Believe:
Mental health is political. It’s shaped by the systems we live in—capitalism, racism, ableism, and authoritarian control. Healing is not just personal; it’s collective and deeply connected to liberation.
Underground movements are a lifeline. The mainstream isn’t built for our survival—but underground networks of mutual aid, artistic resistance, and radical thought have always held the seeds of transformation.
Storytelling is power. When we speak our truths, share our histories, and challenge dominant narratives, we create new possibilities for the future.
What We Do:
Through a mix of conversations, archival audio, creative storytelling, and collaborative dialogue, we bring together voices from the margins—artists, activists, historians, scientists, and visionaries—to discuss:
The future of radical mental health and the collapse of the old system
Counterculture in 2025: what it means to be underground in an era of digital surveillance
The intersections of resistance, abolition, and collective care
The role of art, imagination, and storytelling under authoritarian rule
Strategies for building decentralized networks of support and survival
💡 How We Work:
Mutual Aid Ethic: This is not just a podcast—it’s part of a broader movement to build networks of care and resistance.
Collaborative & Experimental: We explore multiple formats—interviews, roundtables, audio essays, and listener-generated content.
Accessible & Engaging: We prioritize accessibility, exploring video, transcripts, and other tools to bring more people into the conversation.
Why Now?
The shifts we’re seeing in the political landscape—the privatization of care, the rise of carceral mental health, the expansion of economic precarity—are dangerous. But they also create openings for something new. Underground Transmissions exists to seize these openings, to document and shape the future of radical mental health and countercultural resistance.
This is a space for deep conversation, collective memory, and creative resistance. Join us as we transmit from the underground, amplifying the voices shaping the world to come.
